The meds that are supposed to help have the opposite effect! When I try any of these meds -- sinemet, amantidine, even neurontin -- the tremor, which is in my right arm/hand, spreads to my right leg, head and voice and speeds up too. I feel like I've gone from the "wash" cycle to the "spin" cycle! Have any of you had this experience? Did you find any other treatments more successful -- mucuna? CBD? etc? Thank you kindly. I'm new to this site and was thrilled to find it.

What I don't get is...

So is your tremor present all the time? If your's was like mine then it would only occur when the muscle is under load. Then if I took a Sinemet I'd have to wait an hour for that Sinemet to start working and my tremor would have stopped 59 minutes ago anyway. Therefore I suspect that your tremor is different to mine.
Tremor does not reindeer well to oral medications it's only DBS that has most success with tremor. You are surging sinemet and getting a dopamine rush hence why the tremor worsens at first. Small regular dosages may help but your nurse or doctor should be able to help.
I have had no such experience in my 11+ years with Pd I'm sorry (from the point of view that I can't help you) to say. I could only suggest you try Azilect
But the biggest improvement to me (drugs aside) was Exercise - the more intense the better. I now take Boxing training lessons twice a week and it's open to both genders
I have written a paper on Exercise and on my Boxing Experiences - if you are interested drop me an Email on bob.raeburn@hotmail.co.uk
Exercise is great, yoga is great, a good diet is great... natural things are great. Do not panic, have fun, enjoy family and friends and just do not think about it.
Until you must be on drugs, if you can stay away, the latest on drugs the better.
ALL THE BEST!
Sounds like too much medication. Try taking 1/2 of what you were prescribed.
Hola Beckey.
I don't have your symthoms but my tremor is in both hands and probbly in the legs but nobody sure. IUse sinemet and also Sifrol ER (pramipexol). But who works for me better is the exercise, yoga and over all swiming. I recomend to you. I am almost 70 years old and started with PD 8 years ago but my diagnossis was 2 ago

I want to thank you all for your help. I have been feeling very isolated with this thing, and it's great to hear from other folks who also have PD. Much appreciated!
