In Rheumatoid Arthritis, (RA) lymphocytes attack joints & cartilage. Normally the immune system targets microorganisms like virus, bacteria, fungi, and germs, etc. The immune system repeatedly subjected to infections leads to overproduction of antibodies - lymphocytes attack microorganisms but also attack host’s tissues - cartilage in the patient. RA is due to high levels of antibodies - these are like red flags which attach to bacteria but also to cartilage and synovium ( outer layer of cartilage.) The high level antibodies are significant because the intensity of the RA symptoms are less in patients when the antibodies are much lower.
Research & discoveries - show RA starts with hemolytic Streptococcus bacteria produce M protein but parts of the M Protein has similar configuration as Vimentin(a protein) and the body attacks vimentin in cartilage. Even when the Strept infection is gone, the immune system still attacks joints & cartilage since the antibodies remain high.
In fact fractions of M protein separated by enzyme – these fractions are pepM1, pep M5 & pepM18 all tested positive and RA antibodies crossreact with articular cartilage & synovium

How to harness the T Reg Cell
The way to use T Reg cell - the method is Immune Tolerance and Oral Tolerance.
Oral tolerance is the suppression of immune responses to antigens (Ag) that have been administered previously by the oral route. Multiple mechanisms of tolerance are induced by oral Ag. Low doses favor active suppression, whereas higher doses favor clonal anergy/deletion.

The T cell needs 2 factors or signals for full activation.
1.) a peptide of vimentin, – the dose primes or makes ready theT cell. But without the 2nd signal the T cell remains in anergy( no activity).
2.) the Second signal is co-stimulation – is B7 also known as CD80 (B7-1) & CD86(B7-2) – either one is enough to make the T cell go thru the changes that makes it a fully activated cell.

Dr. Matzinger’s discovery is called Danger Theory because methods available to Modern Medicine able to in-duce B7 were Vaccines & Toxoids & byproducts from dangerous micro-organism & not applicable due to tox-icity including inflammation, fevers, fatigue from an overactive immune system ..
But Dr. Matzinger was not aware there is a nontoxic and safe method to induce B7 and that is through Herbs.
