Total colectomy
Hi Brian.
I’m so sorry to hear about what you are going through. You have been through the equivalent of a major car crash and you body takes time to recover from the shock and upheaval of it. I went through almost the same thing back in the mid 1970’s and it does take a while to recover from it and your body to acclimatise to having lost a major part of your digestive system.
The more you can remain positive and allow your body to rest and recover the quicker that recovery will be. Starting with sips of water is a good start no matter how small they are, the more you can take the quicker you can get rid of all the tubes and drips.
Try and keep a diary of your intake each day and see how much you progress after a few days.
I wish you well and hope you can get home soon, I know this may not sound like much help but you will get home.
Take care and keep us updated on your progress
Kind Regards
Cris
can you ask for those lemon flavoured mouth swabs to make your mouth more comfortable.
Also Glandosane mouth spray which is artificial saliva may help.
