Hi everyone I had my colonoscopy on Saturday and I have been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. I have been prescribed with Octasa 1600mg to take but is it best to take these in the morning or evening? Any advise would be appreciated.

Regards

Take it whenever suits you.

I alter my dose depending on how I am so if I’m on a low dose I take them in the morning, if I increase my dose I take them either 2 or 3 times a day.

I take one 1600 tablet in the morning, before eating, then another in late afternoon. If I lower the dosage, I’d probably take it in the morning. The tablets also come in a smaller 800 size.

At the moment I am taking 6 tablets of 800mg in the morning because it's easy. But it is true that if you have lose stools during the day then I would take them in the evening so the tablets stays in your track for as long as possible otherwise I have seen several times the tablets coming out from my back side and still looking intact.

I find they give me indigestion so tend to take them earlier in the day rather than just before bed time.

I take 2400mg a day. I split it into 2 doses as advised by my consultant, so I I take 3x400mg in the morning, and 3x400mg before bed.
