Hi all, just need someone to tell me if I should be very concerned or to stop getting in a tiff!!

I was diagnosed with proctitus in June after bleeding for 2 years and finally finding a doctor that wants to help. I can go for a number 2 upto 6 times a day but 90% I just loose blood.

To much info with the pic but today I’ve been in a lot of pain throughout the night gone to toilet this morning and feel I have a lot of blood clot loss..... it has literally taken the life out of me all I want to do is go back to bed and sleep I feel it has totally withdrawn me. Any help advice etc would be great or just to tell me it’s not as bad as it looks??? Thank you all 🙈 sorry the picture is rather graphic

Hi, I started of with left sided colitis which looked a lot like like picture to begin with. I’m now currently only have mild Proctitus according to the last colonoscopy. what medication are you taking?

Thank you for your reply, I’m currently on a 14 week course of steroids but feel it’s not doing anything as I am on week 8 now. Also on Pentasa, and salofalk. I’ve been given foam enemas but they bypass the issue so they took them off me. I had a colonoscopy a couple of weeks ago and have heard nothing about it. It was horrid and had a lot of blood flow throughout but no medication change only extended steroid course from 8 weeks to 14. I’m struggling to eat anything and feel so tired all the time. I probably have 1 day out of the week that I have energy so the house gets cleaned. 🙈

Have you had a referral to a GI specialist or been put on any medication? Proctitis is very manageable but from the picture it looks like you're still having a flare up. The blood loss is likely to be leaving you feeling very tired as well as the effects of the condition itself. I would get in touch with whoever diagnosed you and explain the situation so you can get some help. Good luck

Thank you for your reply Liz, as my reply says to Jim above I’m on a 14 week course of steroids and a couple of other meds but feel nothing is helping. I’ve been like this everyday for as long as I can remember. I started suffering with blood loss after having my baby now 2 years on I thought I’d found a good GI that was helping but now there is lack of comms. I’ve left messages the past 3 weeks to see what the results of my colonoscopy was but still no reply. Felt abit vulnerable after my colonoscopy as I had it done, sat and had a sandwich after then a nurse said I could go. Was given my paperwork but no explanation or anything. 😞

If you haven't already done so, I'd get a blood test including how much iron you have. You said you've been losing blood for some time. So apart from the tiredness caused by the flare, you've also got the possibility that the blood loss is beginning to take a toll. Your GP surgery should arrange a test for you, full blood count plus iron.
