Contraceptive pill and Crohns?

This may sound like a bizarre question, but has anyone with Crohns disease had it affected or a flare up caused by taking the contraceptive pill? My doctor has recently changed mine (I'm now taking Gedaral), as the one I finally found that worked for my body (originally for acne) isn't available at the moment (Loestrin) and I'm having probably one of the worst flares in a long time! I know theres other factors that could have potentially caused this, or it's just crohns doing its thing but I wondered if anyone else has experienced this or whether its just a coincidence and ties in too well!

Hi, this sounds like a tough situation. If you ever feel like you want to understand when you are fertile or not and what is actually going on in your cycle, you could completely stop the contraceptive pills and use a fertility awareness method (FAM). There are a few out there, I personally love the Billings ovulation method of charting. Just an idea, it's definitely something that requires learning and commitment but so, so good for your body. One question for you is, do you know what levels of what hormones your particular pill has? Usually these newer varieties have both estrogen and progesterone, from what I have read. They absolutely affect your endocrine system in unnatural ways that each individual woman will need to manage.
