Does anybody have really loose and explosive motion in the morning after taking Pentasa. I have stopped taking them for the last 3 nights to see if makes any difference, I have been to the loo a little less and more of struggle to go even though feel the need to go.

Hi Ian, yes I’m exactly like that or like this morning it was just explosive Wind! Ive had a flare up and did what you did stop taking them as you can’t work out what’s best! I’m trying them for two weeks to see if it clears up. It did last time after I was given them after my colonoscopy. This time it’s a struggle. I’ve cut out coffee too as that makes me go too much! Hope it’s a little comfort that your not alone!

Hi, Thank you for your reply, think I might start taking them again and see what happens. The consultant just said it’s up to me how often I take them, everyday, one every couple of days or even once a week. just trying to find my way with it as it is infringing on everything I do, even going to the gym can be a nightmare. I’ve got my first review at the end of the month with the IBD nurse. I guess it’s a bit of trial and error at first. Thank you again for your reply and hope you get some relief soon too

Hi can I just ask the dose you are on? I’ve just been diagnosed and prescribed this but I’ve been told to take 2 x 500mg twice a day for 2 months. Seems like a lot?
