Can crohns be missed in a colonoscopy!???
I had one 10 years ago now. Which the biopsy didn’t show any signs but I was particularly sore at that time. My doctor still thinks crohns so could it have been missed?

It is possible, if the Crohns is in the Ileum or higher up then it may not be reached by the colonoscopy tubes. It may be possible to have a calproctetin test, which is non-invasive, as they test your stools or faeces, which would indicate the level of inflammation. Depending on the result of that you may wish to have further tests to find out what you have or don't have. I don't know where you live, but the best place for these tests is St. Mark's at Northwick Park Hospital, in Harrow (North West London). St Mark's is a Centre of Excellence, and as I have said before it is tops for bottoms.
In my case, Chrons was suspected based on initial patchy inflammation in colon, subsequently consultant requested MRI to check small bowel.
Hi, my son was diagnosed with IBS in his early teens but recently at the age of 36 been diagnosed with Crohn’s. I think he was wrongly diagnosed all those years ago and is now struggling on a daily bases trying to keep his business going. It seems a slow process to get a diagnosis and support. I worry about him because he is bleeding quite heavily but the doctors doesn’t seem concerned about it. Good luck!
