Hey guys, allow me to go on a bit of a rant. So I’m at an island resort with my sisters right now. Don’t get me wrong it’s fun and all but while my sisters are tanning and having fun in the sun I’m sitting in the room, because it’s dangerous for me to be under direct sunlight with the meds that I’m taking.
It’s kind of upsetting, but I understand that it’s not worth the risk, because Crohn’s is already a pain in the butt and I don’t need to add any more diseases to the list.
This is the end of my rant, thanks for taking the time to read this.
Stay healthy IBD Family ✌🏼

I’m on budesonide, azathioprine, remicade, prednisolone. I read online that azathioprine causes skin cancer if exposed to the sun and of course some of the meds thin out the skin not to mention lower the immune system. So yeah, I’m really trying to look at the bright side though.
I feel your frustration. Iv not been able to go out in the sun with less than factor 50 for 20 years now. It's definately been worse with the heat wave this year, as sun factor 50 is like wearing an all in one lol
Lol it’s extra hard when the country you live in is an actual desert, the temperature here is always 40c-50c (104f-122f).
I feel like there’s no amount of sunscreen that’s going to help, so I just don’t bother going out a lot or I just go out after sunset. I sometimes feel like a vampire 😂
If you don’t fancy sunscreen you can get a lot of clothing now with built in sun protection. I’ve not tried them but am considering. Due to the fact they are designed to be worn in the sun I’m guessing they would be fairly light weight and comfortable.
