Just wondering if they still use prednisolone for Crohns? I have had crohns for 18 years and really feel a course of the good old pred would benefit me at the moment! Many thanks

Prednisolone query?
As far as I know they do but then it has been a while since I have had a flare up that would necessitate pred. It is used for imflamation in other areas of the body so would suspect it would still me used for a Crohns flare.
Hi Tazzag, I was prescribed prednisolone 30mg last year. So I presume it’s still the standard go to. Spent most of last year on huge doses of steroids ( still trying to shift the weight) they have eventually started me on Infleximeb infusions. So far so good.
Hi Tazzag, I am starting on Remicade Infleximeb iinfusions soon as its approved ,have you had any side affects at all please.?
No I have been ok. I’m tired all the time but I think that’s my illness rather than the infusion. I was really worried at first as it didn’t seem to be working at all. I go for my 5th dose next week and finally things are settling. I actually went for a full night without getting up! Believe me that’s a milestone achievement. 🏅
Thanks I shall ask and see what they say.
I have beeen on Azathioprine since 2011, and not had a bad enough flare to need prednisolone, however notice that recovery from small flares takes much longer, and I do not feel as well when improving (for me this is getting outside again and doing more housework!! hate). I would give anything for the lovely, slightly manic bounce I used to get with steroids, as made life easier and happier!!
