How does anyone get rid of those dreaded negative thoughts before the start of a new week?
I have completed my W3/R1 last night and was overjoyed although knackered when I finished but I'm struggling to believe I could run for any longer than 3 minutes.. so Im already dreading the weeks to come.
I really want to complete the program but don't want my stupid brain get in the way of my progress

We all have them Margo. In fact one of the things I did early on is not look beyond the following Week, even then I'd only look at it once I'd completed two runs of the Week I was on. I also avoided blog titles which mentioned later Weeks of the programme.
The way I saw it, if looking at Week 3 fazed me when I was on Week 2, looking any further ahead was bound to convince me I had no chance of running for that long.
What you have to keep reminding yourself is that this programme has been done by thousands of others, and hundreds and hundreds of them will have been in the very same condition/circumstances as you. And they will have felt the very same as you about what lies ahead.
This programme trains your body to deal with what it asks of you. It asks enough to push you but not so much that it's beyond you. It also helps train your mind but ultimately, that part is down to you.
You really can do it, all you have to do is convince yourself.
brilliant advice. if you can avoid looking ahead & just listening to each run as comes then you may find that the way to go. I think we all frighten ourselves & our confidence takes a knock, but you have to focus on what you have achieved already & like fingalo says, loads of people have done this.
good luck with the rest of the plan. you can do it
I honestly didn't think that I could run more than the 90 secs when I started a few weeks ago. I just did W6R1 last night and I still can't believe I'm doing it. I'm slow but I'm doing it. Some runs are better than others and I honestly feel that half of it is down to mental attitude towards each run.
I'd agree with everything everyone else has said - though I'd go further and say that, if you've done all the previous stages, it's a lot more than 50% in the mind! Trust Laura, she knows you better than you know yourself!
Thank you Fingalo, I am my own worst enemy.. although I did teach myself a lesson last night.. Id read ahead what week 3 entailed but read it wrong.. I thought i was running for 90 secs twice and then 3 mins once... not 2 x 90 secs and 3mins twice.. Serves me right for being nosey and I'm happy to report that once I got over the shock of having to run 3mins twice, I did it and felt fantastic when I finished. A good lesson learnt
I'm on W5R2 tonight and the little gremlins are telling me that I'll never do it but they've said that before every run and I've done it in spite of them so I'm slowly starting to learn to ignore them and just listen to Laura!
The support on here is amazing and very encouraging, keep coming back!
Think back to week 1 run 1!! I bet you thought you couldn't do it? I did! The programme is amazing and it knows exactly how far to push you and make it achievable! We have all felt the same x Well done for getting off the couch! You ARE doing it and WILL do it xx
When I started I never imagined being able to run for longer than 60 seconds and the idea of 30 minutes seemed impossible and I thought I'd be the one person that couldn't do it.
But as each week passes you manage a bit more and then a bit more and then a bit more!!
I had those gremlins at the start of each new week - but fortunately I also had a friend who told me clearly I *could* do it! She was right more often than the gremlins - I only repeated two weeks, and one of them was partly for technical reasons... I still haven't managed to banish them completely though - they're one of the main reasons I haven't committed to starting a B210K programme now. Maybe I need to put them in their place once and for all!
