The Road to Recovery....

So after not doing much exercise for 3 months after developing plantar faciitis (I know i know you must be sick of hearing about it) I decided enough was enough yesterday, dusted down my mountain bike and got out riding. Had to take it slow and easy but it was great fun riding though the snow. Quite a few slippy bits and near falls but that's part of the fun with mountain biking. I did what was my local 10km running route. My injury doesn't feel any worse today so all's good. So the plan is to build up on my biking at the weekends and hopefully get out running in a month or so fingers crossed!

Like you I'm just getting over this problem (since October for me, so about the same time as your injury) but I'm basically back to normal thank goodness. Hope your recovery continues apace - pun intended... not a very good pun, but intended nonetheless (:->)

I too have plantar fasciitis and have not been running since Christmas and so I completely empathise. Today I went back to week 4 (I was on week 8 run 2) and ran gently on the treadmill. Interestingly it hurt more to walk than to run and I managed ok. It's hard to know whether to rest or keep exercising. I am hoping that starting off gently again like this will allow me to get back on track. I have been trying different shoes with inserts but nothing seems to make much difference.

Don't worry about mentioning it, it's awful when your out of the game for any reason and 3 months is a long time, hope everything goes ok with the cycling and your able to get out again for a run soon.
