Hallelulah....: Week 1 Run 1 DONE!!!! What a... - Couch to 5K
Hallelulah....
CONGRATULATIONS! I started at the ripe old age of 67! Went quite well but became unwell for a couple of weeks and then never got back into it. You are inspiring me. Keep it up.
Have a great day
Hi finally and welcome to C25K! I am the same age so i know
its not easy. Good luck and keep going Ed x
Fantastic - and welcome! It is great, isn't it - all the best with the programme. Follow it and you will get that lovely shiny green badge - and even more importantly, you will become a runner
Hi and a big well done! - I am the ripe old age of 49, have NEVER run in my life before but now I am on week 8 and yes I am loving it. Keep going, it feels great. Just off to my weekly 5K parkrun , can you believe it? This really is it.
Well done, you are on your way. I am also 47 made the 5 k but stopped because of a cold before Christmas and then piled on the pounds. Still lying in bed thinking about it! Hi Ed will let you know when I've managed to motivate myself. X
I'm clinging on to 49 and did my first few runs last week after a break of nearly 8 years. Quite by chance I came across the NHS site yesterday, previously being unaware of the couch to 5k program...so, first run of week one will be today! You're all an inspiration!
Fantastic. As we've all gone a bit Alcoholics Anonymous I'll admit to 57 . I'm just about to do run three week two. I seem to be stuck to the bed, but I'm working on it.
I sure you will enjoy the running/joggy-walking or whatever style you do. Hearing about evyone's efforts is very motivating .
Great good luck.
I started in October aged 47 too. I found it hard going as I'm very overweight but I've really enjoyed it. I've had to flu this week, completely knocked off my feet by it - it's killing me to not be able to go for a run until my strength has recovered
Welcome Finally!! I started this after turning 50 last July and now am totally hooked on running as I'm sure you will be too! I would love to be able to get up for a run early before work but I just couldn't get up that early so I admire you for doing so.
I look forward to hearing about your progress so keep posting here to get lots of encouragement and advice too!
Sue x
I love the encouragement on C25K! Ed x
I'm greenlegs, I'm a 53 yr old woman, who has never run, and struggled with the one minute runs just over a month ago. Yesterday I ran two lots of continuous 10 minutes! Each one a whole kilometer (a bit ahead of schedule because I was daft enough to go out with the wrong podcast and couldn't remember what I was supposed to do).
And I feel absolutely fine this morning. I really want to go out and do it again, but I must be sensible and take a rest day. This programme is really amazing. The progression steps are carefully planned to be do-able - tough sometimes, but not impossible - but not too fast. Trust in Laura (except when she tells you to land on your heels - for many that seems to be a recipe for pain).
Slow but steady - and take little steps if anything hurts. You won't be sorry you came here!
Welcome to the family. The buzz you get from running certainly sets you up for the day but 5:30 is a bit early for me, well done on your first run and good luck with the rest of the . And as we are all confessing I started at the age of 45 after a life time of avoiding any form of activity and I love it
Well done!!! I am 60 and am loving it after a lifetime of NEVER running. I graduated on the 2nd Jan after my 60th birthday on Christmas Eve. I am amazed at how much I enjoy it all. Yesterday ran 5.9k in 30 minutes. So if I can do it anyone can. This forum is so encouraging, so keep checking it everyday and you'll do fine. Keep at it!
I've just started and am up to day 3! Really motivated to continue as it makes me feel good when I've finished the run (or should I say quiet jog). I'm 56 and surprised at the enjoyment so far.
Well done for starting. I started at 62 and running is now just "what i do". This programme does what it says on the tin and soon you'll be as addicted as the rest of us!
well done you. started running myself at the age of 57 and three quarters. Still very slow but coming up to first 5k in a few weeks time. have now been running for six months after starting couch to 5k. Have graduated but still working on 5k. Keep going. I've also joined a running club where I have run with a 70 year old who did the London Marathon last year and a 74 year old who does 5ks for "a bit of training"! Can't keep up with either of them.
I'm 51 and started running eleven months ago, ( I didn't find this web site till not that long ago) , it was pretty hard going until I was fit enough to get through that first ten minutes, I'm on about eight miles at the moment and preparing for the half marathon in May, I feel so much fitter, stick with it , when it feels really hard remember it's always easier to give up, it's nearly all in the head. Good luck.
Thank you everyone for your great words of inspiration. Feeling somewhat like a spring chicken in comparison to those of you who started at a grander age than myself...wow...it just shows it truly is never too late. Having a rest day today and woke up ache free which is great. Excited about doing W1R2 tomorrow morning. Have a great day everyone
W1R2 Done....great way to start my day...yeehaa
