Well, I celebrated my 60th birthday on Christmas Eve and had just finished week 8. Today, one week on I went out to begin week 9. It is the first run so far that I have not completed with Laura. I am trying not to beat myself up over this and will just keep doing week 9 until I can finish the full 30 minute run. I managed about 23 mins today.

Hi Mary, don't beat yourself up. As someone said to me a couple of weeks ago - everyone has a bad run at sometime during the course of the 9 weeks. With perseverance you will get there. I'm starting week 9 myself so we're in the same boat!
Well done Mary for getting out there at least - 23 mins running is better than sitting on the couch so not a failure by any means, just a blip. As Ross says just persevere and take it slow and you will get there.
You are doing wonderfully well and oh, belated birthday wishes too - a great example to the younger runners here!

Hi Mary as Ross says everyone has a bad week mine was W6R3 but I graduated a couple of weeks back and I had my 62nd Birthday 2 days after Christmas. This program is as much a mind game as a physical one so I am sure you have the right attitude to get that 30 minutes beaten. Just remember there are all these virtual runner friends from this blog running alongside you encouraging you all the way.
Well done Mary, i find this hard work and i am only 47! Good going! Ed x
Happy Birthday, and Happy New Year!
23 minutes out fof 30 is 76%, which sounds like a pretty good pass rate for loads of exams. And you'd had a week off, with birthday and Christmas disruptions to mess things up.
Beating up oneself is not allowed! Anyway, how many other 60 yr olds are running 23 minutes in December? (I'm 'only' 53 and have only got up to 3 minutes, so there!)
Ha ha! Got you! You are a star!
Hello. I had a terrible run in week 8. Was dreading next run but it went really well. Don' t be sad, just carry on with the next run and you' 'll get there
Happy Birthday - you can do it just keep trying and take it nice and slow. I'm younger - but I repeated weeks 5, 6 and 7 because I was finding it hard. I don't think it's unusual to take a little longer than 9 weeks, all that matters is to get there. And you will!
I've just graduated and I'm waiting for my badge.
It is the most amazing feeling - keep thinking about how great you'll feel and push on
Happy Belated Birthday Mary!!!! You will reach the 30 minute mark, some of us mature women take a few extra runs to do it, but we get there! You should be very proud of yourself and what you have achieved! What a great way to enter the New Year! Gayle
Happy Birthday, Mary!! What a wonderful inspiration you are!! No worries about the last run. It happens to all of us at times. So very often an especially rough run is followed by a very good one, so that will be my wish for you!!
I see a shiny, green "Graduate" badge just off in your future!! Enjoy the last few runs of the program!!
Keep Running!!
