Looks like a good deal. Does anyone know how this compares to the Garmin Forerunner 10? I was thinking about buying one of them. Any idea why amazon is having such a massive discount? Is there a new piece of technology coming out?

I just read that it only records you average pace and not your current pace. Is this an issue when training?

I dont know about the forerunner 10. amazon change their prices daily. a good deal one day may be back to rrp the next day.

I love mine as I can see how fast I am going (although not usually that fast). I didnt realise it was average pace but it is ok for me. I just thought it was the speed you would make a mile in if you carried on. I love the fact that I can see how far I have run whilst I am running & once you get in you can plug it into the computer & upload your run. gives stats on inclines aswell so you can see just how big that hill really was :)

I dont use my hr monitor on every run, mainly as all my runs see my hr up to around 180 & I havent quite worked out how to run slower to reduce that & run in the particular "zones". maybe now that I am doing longer runs the benefits of an easier short run will show when I use it next.

hr monitor also works with treadmills that use "polar" for a hr monitor.

Thanks for this Shelley - I have just ordered it for myself as right at the beginning I promised myself one when I graduate and I did that Saturday!!

I have been toying with either getting this one or the 210 as it has a foot pod for treadmill work but there is a big difference on price once you buy the pod so opted for this version as I am hoping to continue running outside as long as there isnt ice or snow........

you are very welcome. I bought mine second hand for about £75ish but would have happily paid a bit more to have the warranty aswell.

personally I dont see the need for the pod for a treadmill as the treadmill usually tells you how far youve run & your speed. although Im not sure how accurate treadmills are as according to the treadmill I can do 8miles is 1hr23mins, except outside I ran for an extra 10mins to get to 7.5miles!!

happy running. x

Yes thats the conclusion I came to; the only benefit of the footpod would be that it could be added to the workouts downloaded to the pc but that's not vital and doesnt make me a better or faster runner!!

Thanks for the congrats too! Sue x
