Knee rebelling...

Woke this morning and knee is not good. Today is a rest day, so no plan to run but wondering if I have done something to it. Coming down stairs was not good, thought knee was going to give way. Did not complete run yesterday (wk8 r1) as just did not happen, and didn't feel any problem with knee then, so really do not know what I have done to it. Have iced it today and trying to rest it, hoping I can get out soon, as was planning to do my first Parkrun on Saturday.

At the moment, do not know what to do about knee, do I rest it a few days and then gradually get back into it?, dose up on pain killers and carry on, or give up now?? don't want to give up, but don't want to do any more damage. Am also not wanting to go to doctors at this point, as I know I would be gutted if told not to run. I have had similar problems in the past, which have settled, so hoping things will again. Planning to get some running shoes later this week, so will talk to experts in the shop. Don't think I will be heading out tomorrow though :(

Caro, I'm fighting a knee issue also. I thinks it because we are into the longer runs. I placed an ace bandage around mine and it feels better with it on. No advice other than ice, pain meds and keeping it elevated when you can. I hope its feeling better soon!

My heart goes out to you caro8642!! It is incredibly hard to make the decision to take some time off. We have to balance our desire to complete the program with insuring that we don't cause more damage. I wish I had some answers for you, but I have more compassion than I do intelligence!

Sympathy from here too - I did w4 r2 yesterday and something went ping in my foot. It's not really bad but the doc said to ice it and leave off running for a week. I'm amazed that I'd ever be disappointed to be told not to run but I am - I think because progressing to week 4 surprised me so much! It's probably worse for you being so close to the end.

Take care and hope you're back running soon.

Wednesday, knee feeling a little easier today, think it may still be frozen from the ice pask last night mind! Spoke to a running friend, and have it strapped today and may try to get out tomorrow evening to see how things go. Going to leave my first Park Run another week, rather than this week. Should be getting shoes in next couple of days. Good news is hubby has offered to pay something towards them!
