The other side of the pond...

Is rapidly getting colder! After an abnormally hot and dry summer fall has suddenly arrived. I completed W8R1 this morning, it was dark and 1 degree. Chilly! The worst thing I found with the cold was that I could not feel my toes at the end of the "warm up" walk. This was rectified by the end of my 28 minute run and the rest of me stayed quite warm in tights, a long-sleeve shirt and a headband for my ears.

I will have to think of strategies for when the 'real' cold descends in a few months! (I welcome hearing any!)

Well done you'll soon be finished and a graduate now.

Last winter I wore a pair of leggings under my running leggings. I also wore a hooded top and lightweight wind/waterproof jacket, hat & gloves. Gloves got shoved into jacket pockets once I got warmed up and jacket sometimes came off towards the end.

In the snow I strapped snow spikes to an old pair of trainers and jogged through the forest tracks, it was magical, like a winter wonderland early in the mornings. I loved it but found if the temp dropped below -10C it was hard on the breathing being asthmatic so wore a lightweight scarf too. Good luck for your graduation, don't forget to send JR21 thats John a message to get your green badge once your finished.

Thank your for the clothing suggestions. Breathing in the cold is one of the things that worries me the most. I scarf should really help. I will remember to send John the message... does it matter that I in Canada participating?

Not one maple leaf of difference where you live, you are a member of and will be a graduate of C25K. ;)

Get a buff or two or three or four. Wear on your head as a headband, wear as a beanie hat, wear around your neck as a scarf, wear over your face as mask...

Thanks! We can celebrate together - as oldgirl said, it doesn't matter where you live, we are all members and will graduate!

I assume from your message that you are not in the South, so you will also be facing cooling temps.

I prefer to be cool rather than warm, but I might change my tune mid-winter. I am in Ottawa, Ontario and although our winters seem to be getting milder, some days can be really chilly!

I prefer cool when I'm out running, otherwise I am usuailly freezing from Fall into the Spring! I live in a small town in Kansas, we usually have brisk winters and very hot/ summers. The worse part to all of it is the wind, which is an almost everyday occurrence. Shall we have our grad party at your house or mine? I'll bring the wine!!! ;-)

Ugg... I haven't had to deal with too much wind, it really makes the run more of a challenge! Trying to fit in my W8R2 today (sick toddler and husband making the timing difficult) but if not today then tomorrow for sure! We are definitely on the same track and 'virtually' neighbours (if you have a few days to drive!). How about champagne?
