I have a constant pain in my hip and I know running does it. Should I stop or are there stretches I could do?

Its very difficult for anybody to give you any advice. There are loads of stretches you could do - the best thing is to check out online for stretches - most of the running magazine sites have advice on that. But the best thing would be to see a sports physio and find out what exactly is causing the problem and get it treated.

Thanks - I think I knew I should really get it seen to but I am doing better with my running than I have in a long time and don't want to ease off and drop my fitness levels.

I should probably go before it ends in a more serious problem

i had a pain in my hip, it was my glutes that were too tight.

try sitting cross legged on the floor and and lean forward

your running shop will also be able to recommend some good stretches

It might be illiotibial band syndrome - if you google ITB stretches you can find a few useful you tube video clips.

I had this for the first time two weeks ago. I hadnt run for 28 days and then (bit daft with hindsight) went out and ran 4 miles and felt pain in my hip for the first time afterwards. Using a foam roller and stretches helped, but it returned during my next shorter run a few days later. I did more stretches and rested it for 4 days and have been ok since..
