My last two blogs were about the fact that I had failed W7R1 twice.
The last time I attempted a run was the 8th June, two weeks ago tomorrow. I've had an awful two weeks, WW's out the window, C25K, couldn't do the 25mins, really down on myself, you probably know the feeling.
This morning decided to go out and try W6R1 again and see how I got on, expecting absolutely nothing much at all because surely I must have lost some fitness with almost two weeks off, right?
WRONG!!!!!
I ran for the first 5 mins and found that easy, so decided to keep going and do the two 10 min runs. At 10 mins found I was travelling well, so kept running and running. The only time I had to dig deep was at 20 mins when I hit a hill, by this time I didn't want to stop and decided to keep going for the 25 mins which seems to be my particular mental block.
At 25 mins I decided to keep on for the 30 mins, knowing then that W7 and beyond wouldn't be too scary if I had already done it once. In the end I ran for 32 mins/2.7 miles and the only reason I stopped in the end was because I was at my back door. I AM SO HAPPY !!
I wish now that I had run past my house to see just how far I would have gone,
that might have been interesting.
C25K is fantastic, it works even when you don't believe it.

I did the same in week 7 I had to see if running 30 was ever going to be feasable. Done it twice now but know I can get there and will complete the programme and get my badge, think it has taken the pressure off a bit.
An enormous well done! I found the same when I returned to week 8 after a longish lay-off, and really struggled with completing the first run. Repeated week 6 instead, then part of week 7, then skipped forward to week 9. I never did week 8 after all, but what a great feeling when you suddenly find that you CAN do it, even if it isn't quite in accordance with the programme.
Yes it is a great feeling. I really thought I would struggle with W6R1 this morning but the plan is obviously better than me!
Think I will call this W7R2 as I've done the extra 7 mins I missed on the R1, do R3 on Saturday which I am now looking forward to and on to Week 8 on Monday.
Well done you, such a good run to have done, but a good job you were back to the house cos although you felt good running you may have overdone things if you had kept going for too long after that two week break. I'm really pleased for you and you know you weren't the first nor the last to have a bad time, I think most of us hit this brick wall and struggle probably more mentally than physically to get over it. You've done that in style, congratualtions.
Well done you! Where does this extra strength come from? It must be the power of the programme and you, put together! Many congratulations! After such a lousy time you deserved a success and now you have it!
