W2R1 - Really hard . . .

I was surprised to find it so hard as I had really enjoyed W1. It was my first run in the rain, though, so that didn't help - twenty four hours on, I am starting to look forward to trying again tomorrow. Can't get the hang of the breathing thing at all though . . .

This site really helps with the motivation!

Good going, Kat....don't worry about your breathing...just keep breathing...lol....I sounded like an old, leaky, bellows my first couple weeks...still do on any incline...it will come, just relax and enjoy your new life as a runner....

It will come, the first few weeks are as much about learning about what your body can do as building up stamina, so some days will be easier than others, some days you will get the pace all wrong, some days you'll get the breathing wrong; some days it'll be all right and you will feel like you are flying :-D

All part of the learning curve. Welcome onboard though.

Yeah Well done Kat,

I'm in W6R2 (tomorrow) and didn't think I'd stay motivated at all, much less looking forward to 'running' after those early weeks of huffing & puffing, red- faced, and wobbly-legged.

I'm not quite as graceful as a gazelle but hey-ho I'm running and have lost 8.5lb over the last couple of weeks.

We've got everything to smile about - We're off the couch!

Good Luck. You'll be fab

Can't add much more than anyone else but to say you'll get there. I had really tight chest at the start as breathing was hard but as the weeks go by you recover more quickly. I'm coming up to W8R3 and like a beetroot by the end of it but even thought I'm knackered I do find I am still recovering pretty quickly.

I chew gum when I run...it really works for me. Give it a try to help your breathing x

Thanks so much for all your comments; really appreciated. I am fresh back from R2, and it went much better, although I did jack one in about ten seconds before the end. Looking forward to R3 now on Tuesday . . .
