I am on week 2 and did the second run today- felt it was harder than Monday's, and cut one run short- by about 3 seconds- so annoyed as I could have done it, slowed to a walk just and then laura said to slow down to a walk, if only i'd kept going! I'll see what happens on Friday.
As for the gadgets... I got myself another new pair of headphones. I had JVC over ear ones before but found they didn't grip very well so now have some Sennheiser/ Adidas ones that are on a band round my head- excellent grip and felt I could run without fixing my ears all the time. Sound awesome too!
I have now just ordered an armband to hold my iPhone in off amazon and that should come Monday. I have my nike + app on my phone which is great and am now considering new trainers!
Will this be it or does it keep on going?!
At least the podcasts are free, and they are what is actually getting me running!

hmmm you may as well know now the new gear need will continue, sports shops become strangely enticing... I've clocked up trainers, hi viz gillet, hi viz snap on bracelets, running leggings, 2 x running tops, new sports bra, couple of running magazines and a Garmin watch... I now need a light weight running jacket for the rain lol
I had the trainers, so the only cost so far has been new running kit because the old stuff got too big to stay up/in place! I would like a gadget to map distance but I don't need really one.
I did a run last weekend listening to R4 interviewing some of the British athletes who competed in the 1948 London Olympics. They (or their mums) had to make their own running tops and shorts - although the cyclists were provided with theirs by their organising body - they were wool.......
I have only had to buy a new sports bra but that was £35! almost had a heart attack just at that though and I thought running was meant to be good for your health!
first sports bras were £4 each. next lot a year later £30 each. have 2 so one in the wash/on the go. 2 pairs of leggings with skirt thing attached. 1 proper running tshirt (cant find a nice one that fits & doesnt have a tiny racer back) 1 second hand treadmill 2 pairs of indoor trainers then moved outside & needed support trainers. cushioned socks. armband thingy to hold walkman in. & now bought second hand garmin watch. yep lots of money that I would have normally spent on shoes
If you have an iPhone and want to track your distance, the mapmyrun is a great free app that I use. I get 5 minute updates on pace/speed/distance which I use to pace myself. As for Nike+, I just invested in a pair (admittedly only £17 from an outlet) but was dismayed that you then have to pay £16 for a sensor separately. The podcasts, a set of headphones for £8 from sainsburys and mapmyrun is all I use (apart from Laura!)!!
