I had a week off, first attempt 6 days ago was aborted by nugget. We had gotten almost to the end of the warm up walk when she uncharacteristically turned about face and marched home. In her defence it did start absolutely chucking it down and the wind wasn’t ideal. I don’t blame her for having a hard no as we were both soaked through by the time we got back in. Rescheduled attemept aborted due to being viciously assaulted by a broom. By that I mean it slipped down from its home and I being full of busy trying to sort things hadn’t noticed it had morphed into a trip wire. I face planted into the hall howling in pain for a good 2mins. With two pups jumping on me in their enthusiasm to check that I was ok. Did a quick self assessment other than everything hurting nothing required medical attention (sprained wrist, bruised knee, fat lip). The broom on the other hand did not survive the attack. That was 5 days ago. Today we finally agreed it was time to give this run a whirl. I know I was warned it would be a hard run. I know I find running hard in general but today I found myself praying to all the gods (even the god of lost socks) that it would end and we could stop running. 6mins into the 8min interval was a particularly low point. I would have paid good money to any taxi service that would have taken me back home at that point. Apparently whichever deity heard my call was a pillock. They sent a blinking cat to taunt nugget to into a sprint and since we are attached…you see where this is going. Cat escaped safely, into a garden with a languid jump over a fence, nugget considered following but fortunately I had achieved enough momentum to guide her onwards and away.

wins today:

Completed the run.

No animals were harmed.

Week 6 baby!!

🍏🤗🌷 You absolutely nailed it after all that! So very proud of you! How unfortunate about the broom injury but you are a star 🌟 Onwards & upwards now slowly but surely!! Xx

Molly, our Old English, joined me on some early C25k runs, but it was quickly clear that it wasn’t going to work. My first few runs were on the beach, so she could run off lead, which was ok until she found something else worthy of her interest! 36 kilos of lively “ mind of her own” dog tends to go where she wants! So dog fun and running went their separate ways from an early stage. Sad in a way, but she enjoys her freedom to sniff every bush she passes and charm anyone she encounters. Loads of people do run with dogs successfully; I guess it just takes a while to develop an understanding. Hope you avoid any more face plants!

I’ve got a Pomeranian and if he came with me I for sure would probably not get very far or even increase to anything approaching running or even quick walking!, the attraction of the dark side of all the broadband telegraph poles is strong with him!!. You are absolutely doing fantastic it has to be said , well done.
