Hello, hello - I graduated on 31 January!

I am 53 and have previously lived my life on the principle that "if you don't wear it out it will last you a lifetime". Before I started C25K I could run a bath, but not much else. I am frankly astonished that I can now run for 30 minutes, three times a week.

What did I learn on the way?

Don't think that at the beginning of week 3 you can set off at a great speed, even if it is sunny for the first time in weeks. You might ping your calf and have to hobble everywhere for the next fortnight whilst you wait on it to repair - it's not a great look.

Don't think that at the beginning of week 3 you can cut short on the stretches and warm up walk! In fact, don't ever cut the stretches and the warm up / down walks.

Be amazed at how slowly you can run, and how good it is for building stamina (and repairing damage you may have done to other bits of you - see above). Whenever the going is tough, change down a gear.

If you're lucky enough to live in the country, you may find that if you happen to be in the city during the program and run there, other runners aren't used to being waved at and some find it alarming.

Some runs are better than others - they just are: if you're not having a good one there's always next time.

morning! Having been rubbish at all sport I’d love a badge for actually managing C25K. It’s amazing how well the program works.

morning, I graduated 12th Jan 24… please can I have a badge 🥳.

Been running 3 times a week since, now doing 5k in about 31 mins and noticing significant changes to my physical and mental health.

Congrats and high fives for you! For me the mental and mood changes have been the biggest benefit - if I’m feeling annoyed with the world - going out for a run is now an option
