I'm enjoying the program. I just finished week 7 and even had enough left in the last minute to increase on the last 60 seconds. I generally run at a slow jog as recommended.
I always run in the morning about 7:30 when I've been naturally waking up. Then later on in the day sometimes I start to feel just exhausted. Its not just this program, when I previously cycled long distances (fir me anyways) I also felt like this. When it comes to dinner I basically just want to eat and then lie down. I've been sleeping fine so it looks like its the knock on off the exercise. I have a sedentary job so it's not like I'm really doing anything else except brain work.
It's not a big deal but just wondered if others have found this too. On a positive note I have slept incredibly well since being on this programme..😄
Congratulations on completing week 7. Sounds like you’re doing great, keeping it nice and easy during your runs.
I’ll caveat my comments below with the important fact that I’m not a doctor and don’t have any medical training. So if you’re concerned, please do seek assistance from your GP.
But you asked for anyone else’s experience so here’s mine. I had a similar experience to you (although my sleep was disrupted after running too). I found that increasing my protein/iron intake helped massively. Not sure which it was as I did both at the same time.
It was not only me feeling better, my watch also gave much higher “body battery” readings when I have enough protein and iron (from averaging 4.5 to averaging 8.6). Running does ask your muscles to do more work and I don’t think mine were getting enough protein to recover and rebuild stronger after my runs.
Others might have different experiences. And I don’t know your circumstances so it might be best to chat to a medical professional before you make any changes. That’s just what worked for me.
Thanks Vespina, I do have a reasonably balanced diet, I'll certainly have a look into the whole protein/iron thing and of course take medical advice as necessary. Thanks for your input!
Hello and very well done you ! Maybe it is time to get checked out by your GP.. a routine MOT ?
Your running body is running more now, so it will need the strength and stamina to do that and that is where the core strength and stamina work on some of our rest days, comes in. But if it is any exercise and exertion...then maybe it does need a closer look ...
Diet, hydration . what you eat and when you eat are all playing a major part in this....
🍏Running brings many gifts 🎁 They often surprise us & can be different for many people. One of them is better sleeping patterns, especially if combined with good sleep practices.
Feeling tired during the day on the other hand could be due to the longer runs … but worth a chat with the GP if it affects you badly…
Delighted to hear you are enjoying the programme & getting to Week7 is awesome. Well done 👏
Thanks all for your repliesand encouragement, it's not something that is affecting me too badly and overall I feel great but I'll see how I go.
