An early run for me this morning. Busy day ahead! Set the alarm for 5:30 but it was closer to 6:30 before I managed to get out of the door. Actually donned my shorts this morning. I didn’t want to show my pale winter legs, but you know what? Nobody even gave me a glance! Bit disappointing really 😂! So - left the house and felt that early morning cool air on my skin. Wonderful!
I start the programme and my music and walk up the hill. I notice as I’m walking up the incline that the air is heavy and humid. It’s very overcast here and I thought I felt a spot of rain. I follow the coach’s instructions running and walking when told to.
The last run was a 5 minute one and I have not felt up to increasing the pace so far. I’m a slow runner and this programme isn’t about speed - but sometimes I just feel like increasing pace at the end. In spite of the humidity I just thought I would take the brakes off! So for the last minute it felt like I was flying down the path. I glanced at my watch and my pace was about 7:10. So I’m not exactly about to take off - but that is fast for me and I even steamed up my glasses 🤣
Home for coffee and a shower. Definitely humid out there ☕️🏃♀️👍
Onto Week 5! 👍😊

Well done! I did very early this morning but am 1 week ahead on w5r3. I put my shorts on for the first time this year too, with similar trepidation but decided covering my legs would be even worse. it definitely feels properly like summer now!
Goodness, that was a good run. Isn't it wonderful to run first thing and then you're set up for the day! It seems to take me longer to get ready for my runs these days. I'm sure I got out of that door quicker when I was working full time!
A morning run before a busy day sets you up well, that sounds very enjoyable too, running in shorts is special and legs gain a good bit of colour over time, enjoy the rest of your day
This is brilliant! I am a week ahead, but you're moving swiftly. My 20 minute (!!) run this morning ended at exactly 3k. I haven't gone for shorts yet, and run in a top + a layer before 7am every time. It's hotting up though and I reckon I'm gonna need some "go-faster" shorts! 😂
The first part was on the level, but then I took a diversion which was slightly downhill and I consciously tried to slow down. This has been my pace since run 1, so clearly 5k will not happen in 30 minutes, but the thrill (once I had finished!) of running a slow 3k, but far, far more, running for 20 minutes was worth it all.
Nice one! Sounds like you are making massive progress with you running. OK , If you can bare legs I can too-My shorts are coming out for tomorrow's run!!!! But .. it won't be that early!
