I just finished run 1 of week 8 and I can see the end of week 9 in my sights!!
But woah, today was a challenge, not physically, but mentally. Every fiber of my being was panicked telling itself ‘You can’t run 28 minutes! What’s wrong with you’ but my brain was no match for my will. I simply told myself ‘Look, you can do 25 minutes so get to 25 and see how it goes’
Fortunately, I can ignore my brain sometimes 🤣, because here I am, another 28 minutes of running logged! Graduation badge, I’m coming for you!

Well done Punkmummy! Our brains can be really mean at times, they keep sending out those gremlins to tell us we can’t do this! But you’ve just proved that you can shut those gremlins off and send them back to wherever they came from! Huge well done on getting this far, enjoy the remaining runs!
Well done Punkmummy ! Yes, you're right that running is as much a mental as a physical game. For me, building things up into a great challenge makes them appear more difficult and harder to achieve, so I prefer to minimise them instead. I still break longer runs down mentally into do-able sections even now if I need to.
Good luck for the rest of C25K, and the start of your running life!
I think sometimes the mental side of running is a lot harder than the physical aspect. Well done for getting through and quashing those gremlins. After graduation, there are some great runs on the Nike run club app that I’ve found helpful with my own running gremlins.
Good luck with your next run. Remember that all of us have these sorts of struggles at times and if doesn’t make you any less of a real runner. ❤️
Nearly there Punkmummy, only 5 more runs until you graduate, don't worry about the gremlins, tell them to get lost, congratulations on running the first of 3/28 minute runs of week 8 of C25K, I wish you good luck for the remaining 5 runs and especially for your graduation run 🏃🏾 😊 👍
It definitely is mind over matter and if you can ‘ignore your brain’ 😂 even better, well done! I look forward to reading your graduation post. Good luck and enjoy the last 5 runs! 👏🏻
