Good luck to you RunningRuby on starting C25K, take all the runs slowly, you can repeat any runs or week's if you wish to, drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration, no running on consecutive days as that could cause a injury, if you wish report back here on your progress, I wish you well.

Welcome to the forum and well done on your decision.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5....

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

You are going to have such fun, but beware this running thing can become addictive 😀

Ooh exciting - how did it go? Beware! This programme can completely change your life - for the better! ☺️ I started in April this year and I’m now on a 5k to 10k plan and my husband says ‘running is all you ever talk about’. 🤣

Did you do it, RunningRuby ? Not to be rude or anything... it just sounded like you wanted a bit accountability... If you didn't do it: There's again tomorrow (or even later today!). If you did it, we can celebrate with you!

Hi RunningRuby

I started running in the dark as I was a bit embarassed to be seen out and about, but by week 9, I was out in a fluro T-shirt happy as anything. Didn't reach the last run as life got in the way, but I have started over again last week and can feel the joy this time of knowing that as you go through the weeks, fitness and happiness builds. Good luck on your journey.

Wow this sounds exactly the same same, wearing all black trying not to be seen but by the end buying all funky colours 🤣 I too got to the last run and life got in the way so restarted the whole thing again this April, I haven’t looked back and enjoyed it second time round as I knew I could do it. Good luck on starting again, it’ll be much better as you know what to expect.

Yes, it feels like less of a step into the unknown this time. I can just take it easy knowing that the process looks after itself. I think I was a bit scared of finishing the familiar structure last time, but I've read enough on the forums now to know that there is more out there after the last run 😀

Yet another virtual voice cheering you on! I did c25k as a New Years’ resolution this January and I’m about to do a half marathon. Beware-it can become addictive!

Take it super slowly, celebrate every run you do, enjoy the rest times and just keep at it! Some runs will feel great. Some will be a slog. All of them are helping you on your journey. The absolute key thing is to go at a pace where you can speak in a full sentence. That’s where you’ll make the most progress.

Really good luck to you!
