Is 2 Days a Week Enough?

Hi all,

I’d like to do C25K but for the next 7 weeks due to work and other commitments I can only run 2 days a week as it’s advised not to run on consecutive days. Will this be enough to see progress or would I be better waiting until I can run 3 days a week.?

In short, yes! It’s always better to take more rest than less. I had weeks when I ran twice. Your “week” will be longer so it will take you longer to finish, but you can still get there.

The main thing is to aim for consistency so you’re going regularly and running becomes part of the things that you do each week.

2 days a week is absolutely better than 1 or 0 a week .

However, your optimal development would come with 3

Just do what you can when you can

Do what you can on the running front and if you want to be the best runner that you can be, then do non impact cross training on your rest days, which will be far more beneficial than running every day.

It is not recommended for new runners to run on consecutive days until they have a minimum of six months regular running on their legs.

You're right about not running on consecutive days Sparkleabc . That said, there's absolutely no need to run on the same days each week, nor to stick to exactly the same number of runs every week.

As IannodaTruffe says, if you can find time to do some non impact training in between then that’s going to give you a real health boost as well as help your running. Good luck
