Remembering the joy…

Evening everyone…hope you’re all doing well…& those of you who aren’t I hope you’re on the mend

Just wanted to share my morning run with you all…

I hitched a lift with my hubby when he set off to work this morning seeing as there’s no school run to do and when I jumped out of the van, it started raining…”YESSSSS!!!!” I thought!!

I thought I’d listen to the radio today for a change…& I was also taking my new, free, shokz open run headphones for their first outing….Early in June I did a survey with a chance of winning these and seeing as one of my children had sat on my other ones, (obviously no-one fessed up to it!!!) I thought I’d give it a go…anyway, without any announcement I got a parcel through the post with these lovely things in! What a nice surprise that was…!! Being a Yorkshire lass I like stuff that’s either a bargain or even better, free..

I’ve been dying to take them out so this morning that’s just what I did…the sound is amazing…

Anyway, I did my warm up briskly up the hill & then set off on a lovely, slow, rainy run…there was nothing spectacular about it, I just ran for 5 mins (an easy Garmin run) then walked for 2 & so on….I ran through the graveyard where I am always saddened by the ages of some of the people that lay there, the babies especially, sometimes more than one in a family within a couple of years, what heartbreak they must’ve gone through…& it always makes me thankful of what I have, how blessed & lucky I am…& just as I got to the gates on the other side out sprung a fox!!! We both made each other jump, our widened eyes locked briefly and then we both ran off in opposite directions!!

Down the hill towards home the rain lashed down but the sun was trying it’s hardest to get to the front of the queue!!

What strange weather we’ve had in the last 7 days, this time last week was the hottest day for decades, me and my pupils were melting in the car…this week the heating will be back on keeping us warm!!

my running has been a bit sporadic over the last few months but I always realise when I do go out how much I miss it…how much I need it…but most of all, how much I enjoy it…running with no distance in mind or any particular route…no worrying about pace..just having a nice time, taking it all in & loving every little minute 😊

So if you’re feeling a bit out of love with running, just get those trainers on and get out there, there’s a world of running right on your doorstep waiting just for you

Good post from you Mummycav, I like the bit about the fox you saw and both running off in the opposite direction, nice to know that you are still running, I am glad that very hot weather of last week won't return, at least for a few weeks so the Met Office says.

Phew, me too AlMorr …running in the heat is my least favourite thing! It’s rain all the way for me 😛

Good morning Mummycav, just a little update, this Wednesday morning at around 8 o'clock I ran my 111th 5K (not) parkrun in a time of 32.47, the weather was sunny with a temperature of 11C.

Great post, and I love the picture, which I've taken a screenshot of to remind me that it's ok to be a snail when my inner voice says "why are you still so slow?!!"

Hello 😀 how lovely to see you here and enjoying a lovely run. Yes the weather has been crazy 😛 and I’ve sat here wondering… run or swim??? but I think run wins as i have my shorts on and no bikini underneath

Thank you Mummycav for your inspirational post. I completed week3R3 early yesterday morning. Originally I was going to leave it another day but my son asked if I fancied an early walk/run. Reluctantly I agreed to join him and am so glad I did. It was a beautiful morning with very few people around. Just the tranquil start and fresh air set us both up for the day. Later a friend who I have not seen for a while visited and commented a number of times on how well I looked. I can only put that down to the feel good feeling after the morning start. I never started this programme because of the love of running but it is fast becoming my favourite exercise😊

How do the OpenRuns compare with the Aeropex? They look identical to me.

Not sure nowster …they’re probably the same…the sound is amazing though..do you have shokz?

I have the Aeropex. But they've only just started to fail on me! The left side is making a tinkling sound on movement and they're rattling inside when shaken. I've just put in a warranty claim. They're still inside the two years as I got them in October 2020.

It seems the only difference is charging speed and Bluetooth version (5.0 vs 5.1 on the OpenRuns).

You lucky lady winning those headphones! I love it when stuff like that happens - it’s such a nice surprise and maybe some good karma coming our way 😊. That sounds like a really good run and locking eyes with a fox 🦊 must have been pretty special. 😁

Me too Frenc !! Never happened before!! The fox just sprung out of nowhere, that’s the closest I’ve ever been to one…he was a beauty x
