Hoka sizing
Usually I'd say 1 full size up. I've had several pairs of Hoka (Arahi) but have to say I returned my last pair. They were smaller and didn't feel as well made. I'm hoping this is just a blip as I don't know what I'll do if they have dropped in quality 😕. I was that disappointed I emailed Hoka!
They are great, if, and when you already know what size you need 😎 measure your feet standing on an a4 sheet. Mark behind your heel and in front of your longest toe, for both feet. Take the longest measurement, add .5cm and then look at the hoka size chart in the JPN section for the cms and find your correct size there.
Gortex or thicker fabric can feel tighter. My preference is for models like the Zinal that are light and flexible
Is it 5 cms I need to add
No. Half a cm. My feet are 24cm, so I buy 24.5. Perfect amount of room. Before I learnt about the Japanese sizing chart I ended up with too small shoes and sore toes. I always check size charts by actually dimensions now.
If you know that this brand suits you then the question is valid but in general terms it is not wise to buy by brand, but rather on fit and comfort, preferably in comparison to other shoes offered to you as appropriate after a gait analysis.

I have owned 4 pairs of Hoka Aharis (men’s). Wide fitting. One continental size above my shoe size. No problem.
I had to return a pair of Sauconys to exchange for 2 continental sizes bigger as they were standard width.
Hi, I am a size 5.5. to 6 and I wear a size 7 in my Hoka's. I have to say I think they are really good running shoes and when they are worn out I will buy another pair.
I had the Arahi in a 9 1/2 when I'm normally a 9 and they fit fine. My only problem with Hoka, apart from my opinion that they are not very pleasant looking, and they don't keep their shape very well, is that they don't last as long as the Brooks or ASICS Gel Kayano I had.
I have Hoka running shoes. Really comfortable and sit me perfectly. I bought them following a gait analysis on a treadmill, and would not buy running shoes without having the analysis done (had some injuries in the past caused by ill fitting shoes). I normally wear size 41 and my running shoes are size 42. Good luck!
I had a pair that didn't fit and returned them for another pair that didn't fit again and returned them. So never did get to run in them. I decided my feet didn't fit their sizing and moved to Allbirds. Which have been alright.
Hi this post is very timely as I did todays run with my new Hoka trainers. Yes I too had to go a full size up after a gait analysis at Cotswold. They were great as I was able to get sensible advice on fit and cushioning. I would have bought the Bondi7 but they are not easy to get in a size3! I am very happy with the next grade down. They felt light and very comfortable.
