Can PFPS cause 'red' and 'warm' knees?
Hello and welcome .
We could only give you the same advice as you were given on the 'Marathon Running and Race Support forum'
And that is that we are not medically trained .
Your best course of action would be to consult your medical professional who has historical knowledge of your case .
Take care .
Having read your post on the Marathon and Race Support forum, I would suggest cutting back your running distance and certainly introduce some rest days into your regime, to see if that reduces what may simply be a result of overuse.
When you run, the impact creates microtears in your muscles, which repair and strengthen on your rest days, not while running. Without rest, repair and strengthening are compromised and injury risk increased.
If you want to be the best runner that you can be, then do non impact cross training on your rest days, which will be far more beneficial than running every day. It is not recommended for new runners to run on consecutive days until they have a minimum of six months regular running on their legs. Even then rest days and easy run days should feature.
