As someone new to running, I have found weeks 1-4 ok but had been worried about today’s run when I saw what was coming up... I needn’t have been! I’ve just run for 20 minutes without stopping through the clear morning air down by the canal. It felt fresh, easy, even enjoyable - and a great sense of achievement! I’ve now got a real confidence boost that I will be able to complete the programme 😊
Week 5 Run 3 - surprisingly enjoyable! - Couch to 5K
Week 5 Run 3 - surprisingly enjoyable!

Week 5 is simply another week of runs. all following on from the one before, as every other run. It has got itself a bit of a reputation but is not the dragon folk some folk may think it is
Every week is different, and that is why the programme is so successful... steadily building up our skills and also training us for the discipline in our running.
Week 6 takes folk by surprise, often and some get thrown a little by it, but there is a reason for all these different strategies.
So, a HUGE well done to you, especially on the, enjoying , bit...that is what this s all about. Enjoyment and not endurance.
So, on you go with confidence; after all, there's no such thing as dragons . is there

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.
Stay nice and slow for W6R1............it catches out more people than any other run in the programme.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
Enjoy your journey.

I'm sorry to say that the 20 minute run has a strange side effect. Sufferers have a strange compulsion to tell everyone and anyone that they ran for twenty minutes today. Other side effects are a permanent grin. 😉

I did my W5R3 today and yes it's such a confidence booster. I was a bit dubious about me doing this program till the end but now I think I can do it. Working from home allows me time to do this but a bit worried if I would continue after going back to the office.

Congratulations! But beware - I see the beginnings of Running Addiction here. Has anyone told you it’s incurable? Oh well, too late now 😄👏🏼🎉
Wow thanks so much for all the replies and words of support! Onwards to week 6 next week 😊
