Week 7 Run 1

Cannot believe I’m at week 7! I’ve tried this plan so many times and given up at week 2 and now that I’m at week 7 I’m really starting to enjoy running. 25 minutes was really hard and I ran like a snail, but at the end there is no better feeling.

Honey (my dog) does help to pull me along when I start to slow or want to give up so big shout out to her 💜

Welcome to the forum Runningwithhoney nothing wrong with running slow or going at a snails pace.

If you haven't already read it then this guide is essential reading for anyone starting C25K or returning after a break and includes hydration, minimising impact, stretching after a run and strengthening exercises all of which will help.

Congrats on doing so amazingly well. So encouraging that you say you're really starting to enjoy running. Makes me want to stick with it. Live this forum. It is so positive. And well done Honey 😊

Oh I definitely hated every single run until yesterday and I would (and still do somewhat) dread my run days! But slowly my mind set is changing and the program really helps you to enjoy the non stop runs after all of the broken runs at the start! Good luck with your journey ☺️

Really good to hear that. Its 7am and my intention was to run this morning and I don't want to. The alternative is inertia and staying cosy at home, which seems the more attractive option. This is becoming my thought pattern lately. This resistance in me. Mind over matter - this running business is so much about the mental challenges. So I am heartened to hear how you have gone from dreading runs to loving them. It's hard keeping myself doing it though!! Even knowing I will feel really good afterwards. I think I may have just managed to talk myself in to getting out there though, with your support. Thank you.

I definitely have mornings like this, even last week I did. What I would do when I didn’t wake up in time for a run, or just didn’t feel like it, was to go late in the evening I’d leave mine around 8:50 and go then. The roads are quiet at that time especially week days and that way you’ve not wasted a day and don’t feel guilty. And If I didn’t fancy it some evening I’d just go the next day and push my runs into the weekend! It’s definitely a mindset thing. just try to not make yourself feel guilty about it :)!

Well done! Your average pace is really fast by my standards, you’re definitely not slow!

I was thinking the same that’s a good pace well done

That's a quicker pace than many people can run for 25 minutes, far from a snail's pace! Keep up the fantastic work, you'll likely be able to run a 5k in 30 mins by the end of the program.

That’s really fast. Try slowing down!

I do have a dog pulling me round my route so it’s mainly her speed not mine! I think I’ll try to slow her down to make the run a bit easier tomorrow! Thanks everyone for your comments and advice ☺️
