A 5k that became a 10k πŸ‘€

It's been soooooo long since I shared a run-blog (16th of May 😬) apologies.

The hubby/dad taxi was in operation early this morning the lovely wife delivered to the NHS building, closely followed by a mini teenager+1 to the school for lessons etc.

The weather was a definitely perfectly suited for myself slightly dull, dry but warm and the evils of the UV rays at a minimum, ideal for my delicate skin πŸ₯°.

I'd been promising myself a run to trial my new hydration vest so heck let's get it on.

Breakfasted, and stretched dynamically πŸ‘ and without too much faff I was out before 9.15, a novelty for myself πŸ₯³.

So yep the hydration vest in situ, now the vest I've recently received (dad's day prezzie) is as per mentioned in the link below, a couple of members on HU including our own Instructor57 have the very same one and as per value for money, it's a cracker. Didn't feel the need for a drink today, I was well hydrated so I used the flask pockets for 🀫 haribo and jelly babies πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘.

It was a run without a plan or set route, so after a quick chat with a couple of guys from the village I was off.

The towpath towards the aqueduct was where I ended up, running alongside the moored up narrow boats at their permanent moorings is a nice way to start a run. I do have to watch out for the odd hosepipe as they fill up the water tanks, luckily I'm not too shabby at hurdling 🀣.

I get lucky and get a clear run across the aqueduct and decided to drop down towards the country Park, I've strangely never reversed this route, I generally run through the park to the aqueduct.

The trail pathways are passable but getting overgrown, I avoided the nasty nettles πŸ‘€But I wasn't in the mood for a footpath tarmaccy type of run. This was what I wanted to feel the the countryside and take in the aroma and enjoy the calmness without traffic whizzing by. I briefly took the wrong trail, ending up in dead end, after clambering by up a very steep somewhat slippery slope, I was back on track. Just the noise of the river perfect! The only time I had to run the footpath wasn't to bad, the roads closed so it's traffic free 😊. I'd clicked up 5k but needed a little bit more. So I dropped on the towpath heading towards the Marina, so as the path hits the tunnel, I exit for the leafy lanes towards the national trust castle entrance. Perhaps a little steeper than I planned but I'll go with the flow. The lanes loop around and eventually join back up with the main Llangollen road, I decide to suffer the traffic and footpaths for the final couple of klms, and that's me done for the day βœ…, time for those all important cool down stretches and a banana 🍌.

I hope your Friday runs were equally as refreshing?

Keep those legs turning you lot.....

I got something similar, on offer from Decathlon, a few months ago. I may wear it tomorrow morning on my long run. It'll be its first outing in about eight weeks!

A nice 10k there , it's great when your run is that good it just ends up twice as far as you were planning 😁I like the sound of filling the hydration vest with haribo and jelly babies πŸ˜¬πŸ‘

I couldn't get on with the bladder in the back sloshing around and found the valve a bit tricky but might try the soft bottles πŸ‘

Jelly babies the food fuel of runners Ian πŸ‘..... I'm definitely with you there on the bag of water on my back noooooooooo, the soft flasks are a better route πŸ€“,one of the chaps I was talking with this morning, he's a crazy ultra running type with the fell runners in Llangollen, he has a similar vest, he leaves the house fully hydrated, and takes one flask out with an energy drink high Concentration mixture then as he drinks a little, he'll top it up with spring water on his route......... But those alarm bells ⏰⏰⏰⏰, spring water, countryside..... Sheep wee wee 😬 errrrrrr

Sounded like a good run!

I’ve just realised that I haven’t posted a run since 16th May either! πŸ˜¬πŸ˜³πŸ™„πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

I haven’t got a new swanky hydration vest to show off though…do you think I’ll be forgiven? πŸ˜‰πŸ€£

A great run, and some great photos as ever. Everything is pretty overgrown at the moment, I have to agree! I have the exact same vest I think, in the same colour, which will be having an outing imminently. Nice to have a bit of a route reversal, it’s strange how different it can seem the other way round. πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸƒπŸ»

β€’ in reply toFrenc

Cheers Frenc it was like a jungle in parts, especially when taking a wrong path 🀦, reversal of a route is an excellent way to mix it up hills roll the other way and you have to remember your lefts and rights πŸ€“

Sounds like an awesome day out, gonna have to get myself a hydro vest, thanks for the recommendation Ian!

This sentence was a cracker. πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ€£

"Didn't feel the need for a drink today, I was well hydrated so I used the flask pockets for 🀫 haribo and jelly babies πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘."

I think James Bond was onto something when he said it was shaken not stirred...he wasn't talking about liquor or flasks-but Haribo and jelly babies,in hydro vests during a run!

β€’ in reply tolimu_mu

Cheers limu_mu 🀣 you've automatically been installed into the imc50 fan club I've since tried said vest with full water bottles and it's a surreal sensation of jiggling 😬, haribo definitely get my vote βœ…
