forgive my ignorance ... I read a lot of your posts and you all seem to know how far you have walked/run/shuffled each time you complete a session. Please can you tell me how you record that? I have an iPhone but not a smart watch nor a Fitbit. Is it an app that measures distance? I’m about to begin week five of my shuffling journey, but it’s only week three of the programme as we have repeated weeks one and two twice to ensure we can do them!! I’ve also invested in some good running shoes as my old Clark’s pumps weren’t up to the job of looking after my knees and hips. There seems to be a big leap in week three from running for 1.5 mins to 3 mins 😱 Hope we can manage it. Still struggling to find flat ground in our hilly part of the country!

Happy Sunday everyone!

Hi there. I hope you are enjoying the c25k challenge so far. There are various apps that you can download that will record your distance and routes. Strava, Run keeper at often mentioned. I used Nike Running Club .

Good luck with your running. I hope you get as as much enjoyment out of it as I have!

Thank you, that’s helpful, I’ll look at those apps now. Yes, enjoying it very much and am sleeping so much better on the nights I have done the programme which is a big plus!

I agree, improved sleep seems to be an unexpected but very welcome side effect for me too!-one amongst many-it just gets better and better! Although some days the runs feel much harder than others the "side effects " are worth the effort.

Well done! I'm not really up there with technology. I just have my samsung phone with me to listen to the podcast as I go and just use the health app on that. Seems to work okay and automatically records exercise. IPhones will have a similar app on them for sure. All the best 😊

Thanks! Does the health app record distance?

Hi. Yes it does 😊

Week Three has fewer runs than Week Two, but you're running for the same total amount of time (9 minutes).

Aha, I see, just running for a longer time eeeeeppp!

Don’t be scared by Week 3. I’ve found it seems much quicker than the earlier weeks. All that stopping and starting after 60 or 90 seconds meant I was focusing on the time I spent running rather than the experience. I’m repeating week 3 as I overdid something else and hurt myself. One more Wk3 run to go, can’t wait for Wk4! PS I’m no spring chicken myself, 63 with an arthritic knee. My big sister recommended glucosamine and it really seems to help!

The sessions in week 3 are indeed the shortest in the whole programme.

Thank you for the reassurance. Will get some glucosamine .... top tip!

Week 1 = 8 runs (jogs!) of 1 minute = TOTAL of 8 minutes (3 times in a week)Week 2 = 6 runs (jogs!) of 1.5 minutes = TOTAL of 9 minutes (

Week 3 = 4 runs (jogs!) of 1.5, 3, 1.5 & 3 mins = TOTAL of 9 minutes

Week 3 sees you running (jogging!) for the same amount of time as in Week 2.

It will help you a lot to start looking at the TOTAL amount of time that you're on you're feet for, not the length of any 1 individual segment.

That’s a great way of looking at it, thank you. I’m trying to focus on how amazing it will feel if I can actually shuffle for 3 mins 😂😂

I found the anticipation of the leap to 3 minutes the scariest of the programme, as did my husband. Not sure why!

But, when we got out there, it felt good and it wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. In fact, my husband (who isn’t following the plan but just comes out occasionally to keep me company) suggested we do an additional 3 minutes to get back to the car. I obliged and it managed it fairly easily! It’s the only deviation of the programme I’ve made as I know it’s naughty 😊

Good luck - trust the programme and you’ll be fine. You’ve got this.
