So far, despite knowing a few people that run, I’ve only ever run by myself. So the other day my cousin suggested that we go for a run together. I was kinda nervous because my cousin has been running for much longer than me and is certainly fitter than me! But she assured me that we’d take it nice and steady and that she’d be happy going at my pace
We rocked up at the park nice and early this morning and set out on a 5K run and it was awesome! we went at my pace (which was actually a nice steady pace, not too fast nor too slow) and ran round a beautiful lake. I was initially worried that I’d find having a proper conversation hard as I normally focus quite intensely on my breathing when I run, but it turned out to be easy! We chatted the whole way round about running and all sorts of other things too. It’s crazy how quick the time goes when you’re running with someone else!
Before we knew it we’d done 5K in about 33 mins. A good time I feel! My cousin said that it was a nice pace for her and if she were on her own she probably wouldn’t have gone faster anyway which is good This experience has really opened my eyes as to how great running socially can be! I’m going to go for another run with my cousin on Monday which I’m looking forward to! My partner also started running around the time I did but she hasn’t got the bug for running like I have, so I’m hoping we can go for a run together at some point and I can project some of my enthusiasm onto her 😂
I’m in such a good mood now! The best days always start with good run ☺️ Happy running!

This is something I'm looking forward to with the resumption of Park Runs. I've not had the chance to do one yet, due to what Marian Keyes¹ calls the pandemonium.
My work colleagues who run are all on the south side of Manchester whereas I'm on the north side, so that makes a social run with them a little impractical under the current restrictions.
¹ bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000srg0, available until tomorrow morning. She talks about her relationship with exercise from about 18:30, but the earlier bits about chemists are amusing too.
I've really enjoyed your post, one of the best. I'm really pleased you had a great run and that you can share it with somebody else. Great going 👌🏃♀️🏃♀️
Sorry for the slow reply! Thank you so much! 😁 I don’t know if you ever run with other people but I’d definitely recommend it ☺️ I hope you’re doing well! 😁
I'm OK thank you, and sometimes I go out with a friend but she is so much fitter than me 😐 and a lot younger 😉 I think it's just a gentle jog for her but for me it's a workout 💪
