There is nothing wrong in consolidating your runs. Way better than jumping forward, skipping weeks. Btw, why did you make a 4 year break? You could be running marathons by now.

Repeating weeks is pretty common. and if it works for you there's nothing wrong with it. However, I wouldn't be a slave to such a routine, just repeat the ones you feel would benefit from it (so probably more at the start than the end of the programme as your 'running confidence' grows). Good luck 👍🏴‍☠️.

You could, but if you can do the runs without stopping when you shouldn’t, you don’t really need to repeat.

Welcome back to the forum and well done on your decision.

Repeating weeks is absolutely fine but will inevitably slow progression. It all depends on the true reason why you are repeating. This post about mental approach may help. healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

My friend suggested doing this, and I scoffed at the idea. But when we got to week 5 and the dreaded third run, I gave it another go. I'm now repeating week 5 in preparation for that 20 min run.As someone mentioned, only repeat them if you struggle. There's no point in repeating week 1 if you can manage the 1 min runs fine.

Welcome back and good luck!

It's lovely to have you back. You know the drill... just do the programme, it builds in the repetition needed. You know it works. You also know that bad runs happen and it is easy to overthink them and I'd worry that the more you resist progressing, the more at risk of this you will be. It won't do you any harm per se to do each session 6 times instead of 3, it's all getting out there but what are you hoping will be the specific benefits of doing so? Maybe better to use the forum to address the loss confidence?

I am wondering if you know you want to get back to running but you are scared you will not be able to do what you used to do (and maybe you won't), so you are trying to postpone that discovery.

I redid C25K early last year... hadn't actually stopped running but it was tailing off and I needed a bit of a boost. I can tell you that Week 1 is still a pig as far as I am concerned compared with every other week.
