I done week 2 run 2 yesterday and me knees are letting me know about it this morning. Is this normal? The run felt good and I felt like I was faster then before maybe I need to slow down?
Sore knees: I done week 2 run 2 yesterday and me... - Couch to 5K
Sore knees
I’m into W6 and had similar issues since W2. Measures I’ve taken:
Knee strengthening exercises
Appropriate footwear
Consulted Physio
Extended Rest
Knee strap (Patella support)
I’m not a runner so factored in knees getting used to run activity. Will continue to monitor and if knee pain got worse will take rest days.
Hope that helps. Good luck.
Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.Knee pain is common for new runners.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
Enjoy your journey.
It's not unusual. I also had knee trouble going down stairs the first few weeks.
At this stage speed is not important. Just being able to jog for the specified amount of time is all that counts. Don't try pushing for speed as that could lead to injury.
