About to go into Self-Isolation

Hi All,

Well, firstly I'm impressed that I've A) Started the programme again and, B) Got to Week 6!! With no repeats or anything.

I am unfortunately entering self-isolation next week due to travelling back to the UK for some work training and restrictions in Guernsey require all inbound travel to self-isolate for 14-days. Does anyone have any tips for me so I don't lose my fitness as much as possible..

I read that there were some strength exercises but I was a bit confused when finding these. Can someone direct me the proper link please?

Many thanks,

Welcome back to the forum and well done on your progress.

As stated in the guide to the plan, you lose no significant condition in the first two weeks of non running.

After that loss of condition is gradual.

Strengthening exercises are linked to in the guide.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

What are you allowed to do under the rules for self-isolation in Guernsey?

Stay inside unfortunately. If the individual has a garden then you can use that I believe but I'll be moving into an apartment for my 2-weeks unfortunately

I think you're probably going to have to look at the Strength and Flex forum here for some tips.

You'll probably be fine after such a short break, but I'd suggest going back to week 5 when you resume. Week 6 is one of the two weeks that really stretch your abilities. (Week 4 is the other one.) Resuming in the middle of it might prove hard.

I would get on YouTube and do some HIIT workouts. I have a 21 month old so I can’t always get out of the house - so it’s a good way for me to get the blood pumping and shun the naughty couch!
