I've been running every other day since completing the couch to 5k yet last couple of weeks my legs have felt really achy, more at the top than bottom, I may have ran an extra 0.5 - 1 km but is this normal? Can alcohol affect your muscles as did dry January and since finishing seems to of got worse? By the way I'm not drinking excessively!

Any runner can get achy legs, you should drink plenty of water every day, by all means you can drink a little alcohol, especially after a run, not advisable to drink a lot of alcohol just before you run.

Thank you, no I haven't been drinking before a run but maybe a couple of glasses of wine the night before.

All runners experience tired legs especially after a long run.I used to think acquajogging was a soft option but now put in around 2-3 sessions a week.

If you are close to a public pool with a roped off lane at the deep end you should give it a try.

Purchase a buoyancy belt, strap it on and you will be surprised how it helps with your running.
