My favourite one yet! W7R1🤩

Well I'm not really sure how this happened but today I completed W7R1 and found it to be my favourite run yet! (I know, right?!🤪)

I set out earlier than usual today to try and fit in my run amongst the other million things I had to do before going back to work tomorrow. Gift exchanges, hair appointment, crem visit and food shopping, phew...!

The weather did not inspire me at all. I've been luck during this programme, managing to dodge awful weather but today was miserable, dreary and spitting heavily. Not too cold though thank goodness. Route choice today, I decided to turn right instead of left out of my front garden and reverse my normal circular run for a bit of a change. As I did so, I pass the Co-op on the opposite side of the road, I chuckled at the sight of 3 peacocks walking to the bus stop adjacent. They are resident in the village but it walkways looks funny seeing them there.

It may be because it was a little earlier on in the morning and still getting light but I barely saw a soul about, which is unusual. I didn't see the dog walkers and schools are all done so no straggling mum's on the way home from the morning drop off. Much to my surprise, I found running in the rain really refreshing and invigorating. Not something I'd have imagined.

Having run this same duration on the last run, W6R3, I knew that I had already done a non stop 25 min run, so that really spurred me on to know that I could do it because I had done it. Oddly, I was aware that my running had altered slightly and for some unexplained reason, I seemed to have increased my cadence but slightly shortening my step. I could tell this as I wasn't running to the music anymore. My consistent cadence has been between 139-141. My bespoke Spotify playlist has tracks that are 140bpm and they fit great to my normal running tempo. Today, when I got home, I found I had run 151. No idea what changed but I was so comfortable at that, maybe my legs are just in tune for this running malarkey now and have taken over what I'm consciously telling them to do. 😁

I didn't check my watch or the app once today, as it was raining which makes my phone screen a bit dicky at times. I just let Jo tell me what to do when and I just enjoyed the nature and the music. I also managed to really up my pace at that final minute too. No idea at all how I had that left in my tank but I did, so I used it. Felt really good.

Comfort wise, I have tried a number of combinations now to combat the pins and needles I experience in my feet by the final ten minutes of each longer session I have done. Today, I could feel had a beaming grin on my face when I got home realising that the removal of my compression tubes had worked and I had no pins and needles AMAZING! I think it was the cuff slightly pressing too hard around my lower ankle (as I have a bit of a cankle on me 😂). I shall now need to invest in some full socks instead as I know my right shin took a bit of a battering as a result of the decreased support.

All in all, a fabulous run. Hope I can remain this positive for the rest of the programme. 8 runs to go. Fingers crossed 🤩🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️🤞🥰

That sounds like fantastic progress and so pleased you have solved the pins and needles problem. I've got that run next so it's wonderful to hear how much you enjoyed it.
