W5R3 Why am I worried??

Hello, I'm new to the forum. I've got W5R3 tomorrow morning but can't stop thinking about it. I've followed the programme and run (shuffled) at a snails pace but completed all the runs. I've looked back at how far I've come from nearly being sick on W1R1 to now. Why at this stage am I doubting my ability to complete this particular run?

You will absolutely do this!!!!! This run seems to come a little out of the blue and we doubt whether it can be done.... but I haven't seen a single.post for w5r3 where people haven't completed. It is what you have trained to this point for.... you can trust in the programme, I promise. Believe and you will!!

I look forward to seeing your completion post tomorrow!! I am THAT confident! 😊😊

It's good to worry, that means you care. Is that run going to be challenging? Probably. Maybe. Or not. The point is, you'll do it the way all of us did, and then you'll do the others. Snail pace? That's good. Slow will make you stronger and less injury prone. You'll do this.

Because 4 weeks ago you were barely able to run for 90 seconds.

But now you can do 20 minutes! Trust me. Slow down, if necessary, but keep moving. Your body is ready. And after five minutes in the run, your mind is too. I promise.

I know it’s difficult to do but it really helps if you don’t check what’s coming next and just do what you’re told in the run. That said, you’ll be fine if you’ve completed all the runs. And, if by any chance you struggle, then you were always planning a ‘practice’ for that run, weren’t you? 😉

That's exactly how I approach it!

Hi.

I was exactly the same as you and last Sunday I ran 20 minutes. I kept it slow and steady. I managed it. I think it was more a mental issue, I doubted my ability. I pushed myself through it thinking in 5 minute blocks. Ie, I can get to. 5, ok can get to 10 now, I can get to 15. At 15 I was like “ I’m not bloody stopping now” 🤣. The feeling when I finished was a total high. Good luck !

Yes, I got to 15 minutes and thought I'm not putting all this effort in for nothing!

When Laura said one minute to go I knew I wasn’t about to fail. Such a great feeling when she said stop.

I'm going to run that one tomorrow! I'm feeling quite apprehensive too, but I just keep reminding myself that I felt that way about every run and I got through them all. So I should be OK with the next one. It seems to be an increasingly mental battle rather than just a physical one, but the program has served me well so far.

Good luck! You will nail it. I have the same run coming up tomorrow and share your trepidation but programme has continued to surprise me in its effectiveness so I am just going to have to trust it! Looking forward to seeing your follow up post!

Don't fear it, you've built up your running for this very reason and once this is done you have a month of just building up to running a further 10 minutes... Its honestly not that bad and you will be so proud of yourself when you complete week 5 run 3...and you WILL complete it 💪🏻

OMG!. I did it - me !! I'm over the moon. I'm so happy that I've burst into tears. It wasn't easy. Within the first 10 minutes my legs started to tighten up and I gave myself lots of "talking to's" on the way. I did start slow and then slowed down even further from 10 minutes onwards. The pain in my legs stopped the minute I walked at the end of the run? Although I have reduced lung capacity I didn't have any issues with breathing which surprised me. Thanks everyone for you good wishes and support.

Amazing job, well done. I was about to write a pep talk but looks like you smashed it. This run was all about self-belief and pushing on - it's a mental battle and it sounds like you were victorious. Enjoy your W5R3 grin, which you'll wear for the rest of the day.

Well done 💪 it’s usually a mental thing more than physical one, that run feels like a huge achievement and you should feel over the moon 😃 Just beware that the first two runs of W6 feel a bit strange going back to intervals but it’s all in the magic of this great plan. Good luck with the rest of the runs.... believe 👍 you can do it 😊

Amazing.... 💫

Super well done!! It's such a milestone...

2 more runs and then you run 100% of the time... well on your way to just casually saying... "going out for a run, byyeee".

Enjoy the moment.

Thanks! I completed it, there were several moments when I thought I wouldn't... I might need to start a bit slower next time!

You too will do this!!

This is where you learn to push through no matter what.... that it's actually OK and your body won't give up on you.

You can do 20 minutes, that is in the bag, right? You will not want to stop at 21, 22, 23 or 24 and have to run another 20 again to reach the same point.

You will do it Splashpixie 📣🥂
