W7R3 in the rain and wind ☔️💨 and a question...

So it wasn’t so bad!

I thought the combination of wind and rain would have me heading back home but I told myself it’s only water and if you give up early so what?

Get out there!!

I do think people probably drove past me thinking I was mad (let’s face it, before I started this programme I would have agreed with them) and I look a little drowned when I took this picture but actually enjoyed it (except when I trod in puddles, that’s not so nice!)

Bring on Week 8 😃

Oh, and my question, how long can you leave it between runs and still get back out there as though it’s only been one rest day?

I ask because we are heading into pants weather season and if the weather got seriously worse I would want to wait but I don’t want to have a set back in the programme if I can help it! Thank you 🙏

Well done.

As stated in the guide to the plan, healthunlocked.com/couchto5... you lose no significant condition in the first two weeks of non running.

After that loss of condition is gradual.

Thank you for the reply. I remember reading the guide when I started but have spectacularly failed to manage to book mark it.

It seems I can avoid the rain without any problems unless it rains for 2 weeks solid, in which case I will give up running to build an ark! 😆

The weather is what weather is, people run in all sorts. If you have adequate clothing you'll be protected from any elements. Alternatively, you can run inside on a treadmill. The only two things where I draw the line are ice on the ground (I run where there are cleared paths in the parks or city streets), and heavy winter rain (I wait for it to stop. If it's light, I'm running). 😉

I’m starting to enjoy running enough that I might be the same but I think ultra marathons are beyond the limit I want to set myself!

Well done for getting out there despite the yuk weather 💪 Not only did you do it but you enjoyed it 👏👏 that’s 4 runs of 25 minutes 🎉

W8 bring it on 😊

Full of respect for you! If you get out of the door in heavy rain, you are truly committed. I hate raincoat so ran without a jacket in the rain earlier this week! It was just a different experience that's all. With everything going on at the moment, getting out there is so important.

I agree about getting out there. I didn’t realise before doing C25K, the feeling of accomplishment and freedom running can give you. It helps me to switch off after work...oh my, I’m starting to sound like a convert! 😃

You are a convert. I am truly addicted- being stuck at home working for7 months is a bit tiring, so running is my bit of freedom. If you are experiencing running as freeing, then you are really well placed to keep going and you will love the long runs - even more headspace. I started a year ago now and absolutely love it! Good luck

I definitely want to keep going though haven’t decided on a target after getting through W9 and some consolidation runs.

Perhaps may start the 5-10k programme but don’t feel I’ll ever want to do a marathon.

What did you decide to do?

I didn't follow a plan. Just consolidated my 30 minute runs and then built up slowly for longer distances and times. There are lots of plans you can follow, but I just followed my instinct. Good luck with the rest of the programme.

I needed to read this! The weather here is windy and rainy. I am trying to snatch the opportunity between school runs and general “taxi” duties in the morning but am conditioned to going around 7am. I need to break this unhelpful logic especially as we approach the end of BST ☹️

It’s another mental challenge for me. I’ve finished wk8 so surely I can run at other times of the day for goodness sake!

Need to pull on my big girl pants/running shoes and just do it 🤦🏽‍♀️

You’ve managed so many mental challenges if you’ve reached W8 what’s another one?

With UK weather as it is I decided to get over myself and get on with it 😁 There didn’t seem to me much choice if I wanted to keep with the programme but I may have an extra rest day with gales as well as rain tomorrow! 😂

You’ve done so well getting to W8 good luck with your final two weeks of runs. Pants at the ready! You’ve got this! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Well done on your run 😃 Sounds like you’ve been well and truly bitten by the run bug 🐛✨☺️

Good luck for W8!

Thank you 🤗

If you’d asked me 7 weeks ago I’d have thought you were having a laugh saying that but weirdly I think I have!! 🤣😂🤣
