Breast pain

Hi - I’m a new poster here and looking for some advice. I’m on week 7, and have completed two of this week’s 25 minute runs, but I’m experiencing a pain along the side of my right breast - it feels like a muscle strain. I do wear a good sports bra and I run on a treadmill. Has anyone else experienced this? I’d be grateful for any advice - I’ve come so far and don’t want to give up now!

TIA

Maybe take a look at your running form and see if, especially now you're doing longer runs, everything is what it should be.

Sounds like you might be leaning forward a tad and potentially bouncing a bit side to side when you run...hence the potential muscle strain!

Also if you've been loosing weight alongisde the programme and haven't changed sports bra you might have dropped a size and it's now too loose for example?

Thank you - I suspect the side to side part is accurate - I’m not losing weight at the moment but I do have an E cup so it’s difficult to find decent sports bras too for my shape as well x

It may just be your bra. I find wearing two different bras at the same time works better for support than most sports bras. Might be worth a try!

Excellent idea - I’ll give that a try, thank you x

Welcome to the forum and well done

on your progress.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

There is a link in the guide to an article about posture, which may help.

Enjoy your journey.

Thank you - I’ve been reading the guide and attempting the stretching exercises, which are more difficult than they appear ha ha! x

I have found that I need to squash mine flatter to avoid this problem. I wear a Shock Absorber Ultimate Run in a cup size smaller than my usual size which works for me.
