4K run on Tuesday and weird pain/numbness in my right shoulder/arm

On Tuesday I went for a run, I had to go to Islington to visit a client so I decided to get there running along the canal.

It was hot, I hate it when is hot.

Five min in my shoulder blade and arm (the right one) went ...numb? and sore? at the same time? It was strange. I thought that perhaps that weird bug that bit me right when I left the house maybe paralysed my arm or something... most likely was my mind as it went away after a few minutes.

I took a plastic bottle with me to drink water just in case and a bumbag that was very uncomfortable, I'd like to have a very small backpack that gets very close to my body so it doesn't move when I run, the ones I've seen are either too expensive or too big. Any recommendations? The ideal one would have space to put my mobile, my keys, a light jumper and a water bottle.

I was so slow, I kept thinking of trying to change the perspective of my runs to avoid frustration. What is it that I want to achieve now? Because being faster is not happening, is it running 30 min I wish the program's name was from Couch to 30 min. BC I keep thinking about the 5k, only around week 8 I realised I wouldn't be able to get to 5k in 30 min.

Hey :)

You will get to 5K eventually.. there is no way you can keep running and not improve your fitness and stats. Believe you will but it will take time. I think interval training is the quickest way to improve fitness? I'd google it :)

Also not to cause any alarm but it wasn't your left shoulder was it? If it happened again I'd probably get it checked but just a one off I'd probably ignore. This is just what I would do though haha I am no medical professional.

Must admit I think Couch to 5K is a bit misleading, I doubt many people manage 5K in half an hour for some time. I never did and probably never will but at least it's great that we are all out there trying! Hope the shoulder pain stays away
