Achy Legs - Sunday's Run

I set out feeling really positive, determined to reach 5K. I've only managed it 3 times since graduating at the end of June. I ran at a slow steady pace but gave up after 30 minutes as I was feeling tired. It was also very warm when the sun ☀ shone through the clouds. I probably should have gone an hour earlier! When I looked at my stats I'd run for 4K! The furthest I've run in 30 minutes! So I'm pleased with that 😊.

I've had very achy legs/calves today. Not had that since about week 3. Perhaps I ran a bit too fast? 🤔

You've been here long enough to know about post-run stretches, so I'm going to assume you're still doing them.

Rest up another day and see how you are.

You might have changed your gait slightly which could have added extra load on the calf muscles. If you've shifted to a more forefoot landing, it will exercise the calf muscles more.

Yes I am doing my post-run stretches. Looks like rain tomorrow so I'll wait until Wednesday for my next run.

Well done.

A run is a run is a run.........

Post run stretching and hydration spring to mind.
