The other possibility is if you have more appetite and eat more because you are exercising .

This happened to me when I started cycling to a new job (7 miles each way) - I figured I'd be able to go mad at the canteen at lunch time each day... but I was wrong :(

Controversial but with now sound medical basis: cut back on the carbohydrates and add back some fats and proteins.
