I have sore toes. On both my feet my big toenails are becoming discoloured and sore. I think someone mentioned runners toe to me a while ago. Is there a cure or something I can do to relieve the discomfort especially when running. My shoes are a size bigger than I measure and are new Brooks so I’m not too sure what I can do. Advice gratefully received. ☹️☹️

I would have thought it would be due to inadequate room in the toebox of your shoe, but if they are larger than normal that is probably not the cause.
Could it be the heat and possibly fungal infection of some sort along the lines of athlete's foot?
It’s usually a sign of your toes bumping up against the front of the shoes, especially going down hill. They will often not be sore whilst running, but afterwards they can be sore to touch on the toe ends.....
Are your shoes snug around your mid foot? Lacing might be a factor and your foot sliding forward, there is a heel lock you can do with your laces - it’s what that additional eyelet near the ankle is for....
Don’t forget your feet will swell as you get hot....and your toes need plenty of space for the natural ‘clawing’ action as you run
Shoe brands can differ a lot, I had toe bruising, ‘runners nail’ , etc., I now run in shoes two sizes bigger than my normal shoe size (lots of people do) and they’re fine.
Hope you get it sorted!

Ps - plus good quality socks....
Maybe you need wider shoes?
