Fit to run, not run to fit

My physio quote! He says he’s trying to get me fit to run, rather than me running to get fit...and injuring my knee more. After 2 weeks off from running (I had completed W5R3...what an achievement!) I am being sent back to the beginning. Really fed up about it but I get it, I really do. Anyway I’m only allowed 5 repetitions of the 1 min run, 90 secs walk routine (not the 8 reps per the programme) but if I don’t have the knee pain then next week I can do the 90 seconds runs (but again only x 5) as per week 2 programme.....I am disappointed, I am not going to lie but I need to play the long game here...I really fell in love with running so I need to make sure I am “fit to run” for the long term.

I think you're right to play the long game. Please look after your knees! Time will fly by and you'll soon be at that finish line. Lots of best wishes.x
