Can’t hear the trainer

Wk1 run 1, so all new. I wasn’t listening to any music but I only heard the trainer’s voice on a couple of occasions. I thought the trainer would tell me when to run and when to walk. Have I misunderstood? In the end, I had to keep looking at my phone. Not a huge problem, but I just want to understand what to expect. Can anyone correct me or recommend how to get the trainer to talk more often?.

To make sure we are on the same page, are you using the One You C25K app from Public Health England?

If so you are correct, you should hear the trainer telling you when to run and when to walk. Is it possible that surrounding noise could be sometimes drowning them out? You could also try checking that your earphones are correctly fitted, as if not this may cause intermittent sound loss.

If those aren't causing the problem, you should try restarting your phone, and then if that's no help then uninstall and reinstall the app.

I suggest you then try listening to the app through at home (a bit boring I'm afraid!) to check it works before you head out for your next run.

Good luck! xx

Thank you for this. Yes I have downloaded the Public Health England app, but I’ll try installing it again and listening to it before my next run.😀

The trainer won't be talking all the time.

Typically they'll do a short introduction then tell you to start walking.

In week 1 they'll let you know when you've done half of the warm up walk.

After that they'll alternately tell you when to start and stop running.

Your music should automatically drop in volume when the trainer is talking.

PS. If you do reinstall the app, you can fast forward through the runs you've already completed.

Yes they do tell you that if you’re using the One You app. But you can even play your own music at the same time and the app will adjust the volume when they need to speak.
